What with the current LJ climate, I decided it would be a good time to back up my LJ, so my crysothemis account over on InsaneJournal now contains actual (mirrored) content. This was something I should have done awhile ago, so it wasn't such a bad thing to have a kick in the pants. And I have to say, ljmigrate was easy, smart and effective, which made the move a lot less stressful.

In other news, I'm coming clean and admitting that I've been doing a wee bit of manipping lately. First there was this John Sheppard Facial Hair Battle with the lovely and talented [info]unamaga over on my favorite comm, [info]face_of_joe.

And then today I went and crowned the King and Queen of Atlantis for [info]cesperanza and her Victorsverse.

I really gotta learn to do something about this susceptibility to temptation. *shakes head and wanders off*

A quick sketch of -- okay, seriously, no surprise here -- John Sheppard. This one was done super fast (for me) -- I think I spent about half an hour on it, which means it took longer to scan it and clean up the scanner errors (my glass is pretty badly scratched) than it did to draw it. But it was what I had the time and energy for tonight.

No, really, it wouldn't be a Crysothemis Quicksketch if I didn't run out of room for the hair )

Since I didn't manage to do any holiday exchanges this year, here's my bit of slightly demented holiday cheer. Er, sorry?

Too Good

by Crysothemis

Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis
Pairing: John/Rodney
Rating: NC-17 for graphic sex with bondage, toys, and wee bit of spanking
Length: about 2,500 words
Warnings: You may want to skip this one if you're squicked by BDSM. You may want to skip this one if you're really into BDSM. Consider yourself warned either way.
Summary: So apparently their whole relationship was based on a lie, and it was the best thing ever.
A/N: Established relationship bondage PWP with a stealth holiday theme. Um, yes, really. Thanks to [info]wpadmirer for giving it a look-over.

God, you look so hot like this. )

and I'm jossed. Jossed! I should've figured my major plot point would show up in canon sometime, and it serves me right for a) writing too slowly and b) trying to write something concurrent with ongoing canon.

Because apparently randomness is where I'm at these days.

1) Every time I write a story, I put a hypothetical word count at the top. I try to be accurate, but a bit generous, because I know I tend to overshoot. So why is it that every single time I'm wrong to the tune of at least 50%? Even when I pad the estimate by 50%?

2) Why is Free Rice so incredibly addictive? Every time I tell myself I'm going to stop playing, I get drawn in again. The most entertaining part is trying to figure out the roots and origin of the words as I go. Also, I'm vastly amused when, on a level where most of the words are things I am digging into the far recesses of my brain to recognize, I suddenly get a word (like "tanager") that I know like the back of my hand.

1) Happy Thanksgiving to the Americans on my list, and Happy Thursday to everyone else. I'm celebrating by being grateful for many, many things, organizing my family room, and making pie. Glorious pie! I'm definitely thinking apple, but I am resisting the urge to make a chocolate silk pie, too, because I really don't need the extra sugar. Maybe for Christmas?

2) Okay, this question has been bugging me for the last 9 years. What the heck are we calling the current decade? I've heard "the naughties" (hee) and "the two-thousands" (ugh), but what do YOU call it? In your head, or to others? There's got to be a consensus somewhere, doesn't there? The decade's almost over!

Last Resort

by Crysothemis

Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis
Pairing: John/Rodney
Rating: NC-17 for graphic sex
Length: about 16,000 words
Excerpt: "It's actually kind of surprising that this hasn't happened to us before. I mean, not the part where you didn't get the girl, obviously, just, you know, we've stayed in a lot of strange places together and a lot of them didn't have private rooms. And I'm not saying I don't have any self control, but I certainly have a healthy libido, and—"
Warnings: graphic (but imaginary) het sex, general spoilers for Season 5
Thanks: to [info]lamardeuse, [info]tex, and [info]wpadmirer for beta
A/N: This story owes much of its current shape to a conversation with [info]cupidsbow. I just write more slowly than she does.

It was disgusting, really. )

I might've just posted a little double drabble over on [info]tzzzz's No on 8 drabble-a-thon. It's John/Nancy and John/Rodney, packed into exactly 200 words.

I think I just missed the cut-off for drabbles that actually count toward the cause, so I might just have to donate a bit (more) on my own.

The person who was selling my manip on eBay closed the auction early -- no doubt because he wanted to make sure of his $7 while he still could. So at least we made him nervous. :P

Thank you all for your support (and emails, and reportings). According to one kind soul who exchanged email with the guy, he claimed it was his own Photoshop work, which makes him a pretty ballsy liar, anyway.

(I screencapped the auction page and can prove it's mine, if anyone is curious.)

I don't need any more fuss made about this one, but if anyone happens to notice him at it again, I'd be deeply appreciative if you could let me know. I'll try to remember to keep tabs on him, but I don't do eBay, so I'm likely to forget.

*hugs to all*

So apparently, someone is selling a print of my shirtless Sheppard manip over on eBay. (Thanks to [info]ninja007 for the heads up.)

For the record (once again), I don't mind if anyone prints out my work for their personal use. I don't care if you make a nice glossy photo from it. Go for it. Enjoy! But I will say that I find selling fanwork that isn't even your own for a profit to be seriously tacky.

*shakes head*
